Kirk Summers, PRESIDENT

Kirk Summers is Professor of Classics at the University of Alabama, where he serves as director of the Classics program. His research in the past fifteen years has focused on Theodore Beza and the Reformed movement in the latter half of the sixteenth century. He received Masters degrees from Reformed Theological Seminary (Biblical Studies) and Latin (University of Nebraska) and his Ph.D. in Classical Philology from the University of Illinois.

Kyle Dieleman, vice-president and program chair

Dr. Kyle J. Dieleman is Associate Professor of Theology at Dordt University (Sioux Center, IA). Dr. Dieleman's research focuses on the Reformed tradition in the early modern Low Countries with particular attention to the interplay between theology and lived religious experiences. His two book publications include The Battle for the Sabbath in the Dutch Reformation: Devotion or Desecration? (2019, Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht) and Navigating Reformed Identity in the Rural Dutch Republic: Communities, Belief, and Piety (2023, Amsterdam University Press).


 

Jennifer Powell McNutt, Past PRESIDENt

Jennifer Powell McNutt is Associate Professor of Theology and History of Christianity at Wheaton College and degree coordinator of the M.A. programs in Theology and History of Christianity. She is currently writing a social history of John Calvin’s theology for the University of Oxford’s Christian Theology in Context series and conducting archival research for a monograph on the history of the French Bible from the Reformation through the Enlightenment.  She received her M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary and her Ph.D. in History from the University of St. Andrews.

Kenneth Woo, Secretary-Treasurer

Kenneth Woo is Associate Professor of Church History at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. His current research centers on the history of biblical interpretation and the construction of religious identity. He received his M.Div. from Westminster Theological Seminary and his Th.D. in Reformation Studies from Duke Divinity School.

Sujin Pak, Board Member (2024-2028)

Dr. G. Sujin Pak (BA, Emory University; MTS, Duke Divinity School; PhD Duke University) is Dean of Boston University’s School of Theology (BUSTH) and professor of the history of Christianity. Prior to becoming Dean at BUSTH, Pak served as Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and taught at Duke Divinity School and also formerly taught at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Her teaching and research focus on the history of Christianity, the Protestant reformers (Luther and Calvin), women and the reformation, history of Christian-Jewish relations, the history of biblical interpretation, and medieval female mystics. Pak is the author of The Judaizing Calvin: Sixteenth-Century Debates on the Messianic Psalms (Oxford University Press, 2010), The Reformation of Prophecy: Early Modern Interpretations of the Prophet and Old Testament Prophet (Oxford University Press, 2018), and several articles appearing in journals such as Church History, Renaissance & Reformation Review, Religions, and Calvin Theological Journal.

CHristine Kooi, Board Member (2022-2026)

Christine Kooi is the Lewis, Katheryn and Benjamin Price Professor of European History at Louisiana State University. Her research centers on the religious culture of the early modern Low Countries. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. from Yale University.
